about me – gestalt therapy bristol

simon stafford townsend psychotherapistMy name is Simon Stafford-Townsend, and I run a private psychotherapy practice out of Akousis in Montpelier, Bristol (click here for directions and a google map).

Whilst I work with a wide range of issues and experiences, my clinical specialties at this time are depression; trauma; and existential crisis.

I offer therapy on an ongoing or brief basis. My preference is for working longer term on an ongoing basis because this allows the therapy to reach a greater depth. That said, many people get what they need from therapy in the first 8 weeks and don’t want to continue into deeper work. I usually suggest we review our work after 8 weeks so we can agree whether to continue working or draw the therapy to a close.

I also run stand alone experiential workshops. These are an opportunity to explore your individual experience of a collective theme in a small group situation.

What next?

Arrange an initial consultation. In this session, we will go through what’s motivated you to seek therapy at this time, what you’d like to get from therapy, and what your expectations of the process are; if indeed you have any. To book an initial consultation, contact me.

And of course, you are welcome to call or email me if you have questions you need to address before you can feel comfortable booking an initial consultation.

In the meantime, please look around my website to get a feel for my style and approach. You’ll find information about my training and experience, and a lot of information about my core training; gestalt psychotherapy. I also keep a blog called le chat d’argent (the silver cat), where I write about things that interest me in a gestalt/therapeutic vein.

Best wishes

Simon
